A small Pike County town has been awarded $700,000 to construct a wastewater system. The project consists of building a new wastewater collection system, since no system currently exists. The town of Spurgeon in Southern Pike County will install 71 grinder pump stations to serve one or more households, and then connect more than 19,000 linear feet of force main lines throughout the town. The collection system will then connect to a main owned by the Town of Lynnville, which will then provide treatment. $8 million in federal government funding is available to improve water infrastructure in a total of 12 Indiana communities. Sullivan also received grant money totaling 600-thousand dollars for flood drainage improvements.
