The Washington Lady Hatchets improved to 2 and 0 on the season with a nice win at the Hatchet House on Senior night topping South Knox 62 to 33.  Washington was led by Alaina Thorne with 23 points, while Kencia Lavasseur added 18 and Jade Browning chipped in 13.  Washington has a long time off before traveling to Sullivan next Friday, November 20th.

The Washington Catholic Lady Cardinals opened their season with a close one falling at Shakamak last night 50 to 45.  WC travels to North Central tomorrow.

There’ll be a lot less college football to watch this weekend. Three SEC games are being postponed due to players testing positive for COVID-19. On Monday, the conference announced the game between Auburn and Mississippi State was postponed. Then yesterday, the conference said the LSU-Alabama game and the Texas A&M-Tennessee games would suffer the same fate.
Although Ben Roethlisberger was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers are optimistic their quarterback will be available for Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.  The team placed Roethlisberger and three others on the reserve/COVID-19 list after they were deemed high-risk close contacts with tight end Vance McDonald, who returned a positive test for the virus Monday.
Odell Beckham Jr. underwent surgery Tuesday to repair the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.   A team spokesperson said that Beckham is expected to be ready for the 2021 season.  Beckham suffered the season-ending injury Oct. 25 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Before that, he had 23 receptions for 319 receiving yards and four total touchdowns on the season.
Tampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash was named American League Manager of the Year on Tuesday, receiving 22 of the 30 first-place votes.  Cash guided the Rays to a division title as well as the AL’s best regular-season record at 40-20. The Rays’ .667 win percentage was by far the best in franchise history.
Miami’s Don Mattingly was named National League Manager of the Year on Tuesday after guiding the Marlins to their first playoff appearance since 2003, despite dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak that paused the season and ravaged the roster.  The Marlins’ 31-29 record marked Mattingly’s first winning season in his fifth year with the club. The former first baseman and AL MVP had a winning record in each of his five seasons as the manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
