Washington boys tennis picked up two conference wins Saturday. Defeated North Posey 4-1, and Tell City 5-0.
The Barr-Reeve Girls Volleyball team went 3-1 at the Scottsburg Tournament over the weekend to improve there record to 7-1 on the season. The Vikings opened the tournament with a 25-11, 25-13 win over Scottsburg. In the second match the Vikings won over Evansville North 25-11, 25-19. In the third match the Vikings defeated Christian Academy 25-18, 25-13 to set up the championship match with #3, 3A Silver Creek. In the Championship Match Barr-Reeve lost the first set 24-26 but bounced back in the second set to win 25-17 but lost set 3 15-9 for their first loss of the season. The Vikings record now stands at 7-1 and will travel to Evansville Memorial on Tuesday.

On Saturday, the Washington Hatchets evened their record to 1-1 with a road win at Crawford County 61-18. Trey Reed connected for three touchdown passes on his first three throws to get the Hatchets off to a great start. Washington will travel to Gibson Southern Friday night. Gibson Southern lost to Whiteland 24-7
Vincennes Lincoln lost a narrow one to Evansville Reitz 22-21
North Knox shut out Eastern Greene 41-0
Jasper beat Evansville Harrison 50-7
Pike Central lost to Tecumseh 39-0

Josef Newgarden edged Pato O’Ward out of the pits with 47 laps to go and went on to win in race two of an IndyCar weekend doubleheader Worldwide Technology Raceway. On lap 153 of 200, Newgarden barely beat Pato O’Ward off of pit road as the duo made it back on track in front of Will Power, who had been leading before pitstops. The race ended under caution after Takuma Sato brushed the wall with four laps to go. O’Ward finished second for his second straight podium and Power came home third. Dixon won Saturday’s race, becoming the third driver in IndyCar history to win 50 races.
The Chicago Cubs made history Sunday, becoming the first team to have all three starting outfielders each hit two home runs in a game. Kyle Schwarber, Ian Happ and Jason Heyward all went yard twice in a 10-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds.
Adam Wainwright pitched a complete game and struck out nine as the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Cleveland Indians 7-2 Sunday at Busch Stadium.
Luis Robert hit a walk-off, three-run home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to lift the Chicago White Sox to a 5-2 win over the Kansas City Royals. With the win, the White Sox tied Cleveland for the AL Central lead at 21-13.
