Knox County Councilman Steve Thais was found dead on his northern Knox County property Wednesday evening.
Knox Co. Sheriff Mike Morris says he received a private call concerning a missing person, Steve Thais, in the area of 6220 Old 41 North. Sheriff Deputies and K-9 units were used to search for Thais.
Officers located 57-year old Thais about 100 yards from his home in a nearby woods.
Morris says preliminary investigation revealed that Thais had been clearing brush on his property when it appears a large limb fell and struck Thais in the head.
Thais was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy is schedule for Thursday morning.
