Absentee voting winding down

In person absentee voting is going on at the courthouse today until 3pm. The last day to vote absentee in person is on Monday from 8 to Noon. Mail in ballots must be received by Monday at noon to be counted.
The Daviess County Clerks office reports they sent out 1,420 applications for mail in ballots and as of Friday morning had recieved 1,152 ballots in the mail. As of yesterday morning 288 people had voted absentee at the courthouse basement.
Polls will be open on Tuesday as usual. There will be masks and gloves available for the poll workers to use if they want as well as face shields. They will also have hand sanitizer and disinfectant to use on each of the machines after each voter uses it and also to clean the pens at the poll books after each voter signs in. All of that was provided the Indiana Secretary of State’s office.
There is one polling location change in Washington. Voters in Washington precincts 8 and 9 will vote at the Christ United Methodist Church. It used to be at the library.
