Skelton, on his television show in 1969, took on the persona of a teacher he had at a Vincennes Elementary School as he explained the meaning of each word in what’s become known as Red’s Pledge of Allegiance.
The Red Skelton Museum of American Comedy in Vincennes will celebrate the 50th anniversary throughout 2019 with a kick-off celebration tonight of their new exhibit featuring Red’s iconic Pledge of allegiance. The public’s invited to the event at 7 tonight at the museum on the Vincennes University Campus.
