Local legislator wants a shorter session

Shortening the legislative session and saving taxpayers money is what Republican State Senator Eric Bassler of Washington wants to do.  He’s working on a bill to shorten the legislative session by one month, which would force lawmakers to be more efficient with their time and save the taxpayers’ money in the long run. Bassler isn’t sure his bill will make it through this year, but he hopes it’s brought up for discussion.

He is proposing the budget year or long year sessions which end in April should end in March and short session years which conclude in March would wrap up in February.

He says that when you give people a deadline they tend to meet it.
