John Edward Carroll, 86 of Plainville passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, March 21, 2016.
He was born on June 10, 1929 in Columbus, IN to the late William E. Carroll and Nell (Cummins) Carroll. John was a 1947 graduate of Plainville High School and completed a course in agriculture at Purdue University. He was wed to Miriam Ann Norton on April 4, 1951. John was a member of Cornettsville United Methodist Church, Walk to Emmaus, past Master of the Plainville Masonic Lodge, Washington Commandry, Plainville Eastern Star, Prairie Creek Conservation Board, past North Daviess School Board, past 4-H director, REMC Board of Directors for 27 years, and a past Sunday School Superintendent. Though John was involved in many things he always made time for the most important, his family.
John is survived by his loving wife of nearly 65 years, Miriam Ann Carroll; 5 children, Janet and Dennie Eaton of Plainville, Becky and Terry Eaton of Plainville, Kim and Tom Coors of Fishers, Dee and Ed Ryan of Plainville, and John and Carol Carroll of Westfield; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Gill Funeral Home, 308 E. Walnut Street, Washington, IN 47501, on Friday, March 25, 2016 from 2pm until 8pm. Funeral service will be held at Gill Funeral Home on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 11am officiated by Rev. Jeff Reed and Pastor Gwen Pew with visitation 2 hours prior.
