Byron K. Sims of Bloomington, lived such a full and wonderful life that it’s impossible to sum up all of his 73 years in an obituary.

Byron was born at home in Odon to Ira and Vera (Richardson) Sims on May 3, 1942. Upon his father’s death, Byron was raised by Victor “Bill” Wadsworth.

He was a hardworking man and was just as giving. He loved his family, pets and gardens unconditionally.

Byron worked for Weddle Brothers for 35 years and was a longtime member of the South Central Iris, Daylily, Hosta and Daffodil Club. He was a past volunteer fireman for the Bloomington Township Fire Department.

He was everyone’s perfect neighbor, always there to help anyone in need.

Byron is survived by his four children: Kimberly Sims, Amy (Randy) Gharst, Kerry (Stephanie) Sims and Scott (Brenda) Gaston. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two sisters, Becky Sims and Susie (Mike) Roach and a brother, Jim (Marla) Wadsworth.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, his loving wife, Phyllis (Arthur) Sims, his daughter. Beth Breeden and an infant son Byron Kent Sims.

Friends may visit the family in Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E. Third St., Bloomington, on Monday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Michael Douglas officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Odon.
