A Vincennes man was arrested Friday following a high-speed pursuit that began in Knox County and ended in Washington. Indiana State Police say the incident started around 12:25 p.m. when a trooper attempted to stop a vehicle traveling more than 100 miles per hour on U.S. 41 near Vincennes. The driver, later identified as 39-year-old Ethan Stantz, allegedly refused to stop and led officers on a pursuit. Police say the vehicle reached speeds of more than 150 miles per hour while traveling on U.S. 50 before officers lost sight of it and ended the chase near Wheatland. Law enforcement continued searching the area, and around 2:30 p.m., a trooper located a vehicle matching the description parked at a bar in Washington. Officers made contact with the driver inside the business and took him into custody. Stantz was transported to the Knox County Jail and faces preliminary charges including resisting law enforcement with a vehicle and reckless driving. The investigation remains ongoing.
