Oakland City University officials say the school is not planning to close, despite recent rumors and required federal filings. In a statement, the university said financial challenges have led to the filing of a WARN notice, which is required to inform employees of the possibility of future layoffs. However, officials emphasized there are currently no plans to lay off staff. University leaders say they are working to improve financial stability, including efforts to sell a carbon capture patent, with a potential agreement expected in the coming weeks.
