DSI will host an open house and ribbon cutting later this month for its new Hospitality Training Center in Washington as part of National Disability Awareness Month. The event will take place Tuesday, March 24 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at DSI’s Daviess County facility on East National Highway. The project was made possible through a $75,000 matching grant from the Indiana United Ways Statewide Capital Projects Initiative, along with support from the Daviess County Economic Development Corporation and the Aileen S. Andrew Foundation. The new training center features a coffee bar, teaching kitchen, laundry area, and a hotel-style suite designed to help individuals with disabilities develop job skills for careers in hospitality and service industries. Officials say the center will also support students participating in pre-employment transition services through local schools and individuals in DSI’s supported employment programs. Community members are invited to attend the event and tour the new facility.
