flood

Emergency crews rescued a motorist early Monday morning after a vehicle became stranded in high water on Highway 358 near Plainville. Authorities say the call came in shortly before 6:45 a.m. when the driver reported going past barricades and becoming stuck in floodwaters. Dispatchers said water was rising around the vehicle and had reached the windows while the driver remained inside. Deputies, firefighters, EMS, and DNR officers responded to the scene. Rescuers used a boat to reach the stranded driver, who was safely removed from the vehicle and taken to the Knox County side of the river. Officials say the driver was not injured, and the vehicle was left in the water. Authorities continue to warn motorists to avoid driving around barricades and through flooded roadways.
