An 89-mile police pursuit that began in Monroe County ended Tuesday morning in Gibson County with two Evansville residents under arrest. According to Indiana State Police, the chase began around 9:49 a.m. when a trooper attempted to stop a blue 2022 Chevrolet Silverado traveling 83 mph in a 65-mph zone on I-69 near the 117 mile-marker. The driver refused to stop and continued southbound, reaching speeds of more than 100 mph. Washington Police officers assisted Indiana State Police during the pursuit as it moved through the area, helping with traffic control and coordination as stop sticks were deployed at multiple locations along I-69. During the pursuit, troopers reported seeing items thrown from the vehicle. Stop sticks were deployed near the 39 mile-marker, deflating at least two tires, but the driver continued south at a reduced speed. The pursuit ended near the 25 mile-marker when a trooper executed a Precision Immobilization Technique, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and stop in the median. The driver and passenger were taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Monroe County Jail. Troopers reported locating a small amount of suspected methamphetamine inside the vehicle. Arrested were 27-year-old Geonovan M. Bailey and 25-year-old Tiona E. Monie Sullivan, both of Evansville. Both face charges of Resisting Law Enforcement, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Obstruction of Justice. The investigation remains ongoing.
