
A Beech Grove police officer was killed in the line of duty Monday evening following a shooting on Diplomat Court. According to Beech Grove Police Chief Michael Maurice, officers were dispatched around 6:08 p.m. to the 100 block of Diplomat Court for a reported disturbance. After arriving on scene, Officer Brian Elliott and another officer were shot. Both officers were transported to Eskenazi Hospital, where Officer Elliott later died from his injuries despite lifesaving efforts. The second officer, who has not been identified, is listed in stable condition and is expected to survive. Chief Maurice expressed condolences to Officer Elliott’s wife, Erin, his parents, and loved ones, and thanked hospital staff, law enforcement agencies, and community partners for their response and support.
