Joseph S. Lengacher

Joseph S. Lengacher, 95, of Loogootee, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Deaconess Memorial Hospital in Jasper, Indiana surrounded by his family.

Born to Elmer and Emma (Stoll) Lengacher on April 6, 1930 in Montogomery, Indiana, he was the oldest of 11 children.  He married Doris (Jean) and together they had 4 children. Surviving are: Jeff (Myra), Pam (Wayne), and Tim (Billie Sue); as well as surviving are: 7 grandchildren and 19 ¾ great-grandchildren, as a new baby to be born in April, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

After the death of his first wife, Doris Jean, Joseph went on to marry Zetta Stoll on December 9, 2000 and they spent the next 25 years together.

He loved the Lord and was involved with the youth group at North Leo Church. He enjoyed camping, fishing and his amazing friends. He was a very hard worker, having spent many years as a building inspector with Allen County building department and ran his own construction company. His life was full and blessed, and he enjoyed traveling in Sarasota Florida to spend his winters.

Joseph was preceded by his first wife, Doris Jean; his parents; his son, Mike Legacher; step-son, Marvin Graber; and 5 siblings.

He is also survived by Stepsons: Delmer (Jean) Graber, Terry (Gwen) Graber, Sheldon (Jenny) Graber; step-daughters: Nelda (Dean) Lengacher, Jolene (Van) McAtee; 16 step-grandchildren and 24 step-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Providence Mennonite Church in Montgomery, Indiana from 3:30 P.M. to 5:30 P.M, with a memorial service beginning at 5:30 P.M. with Dean Lengacher officiating.

Following local services, a visitation will also take place on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 12:00 P.M to 2:00 P.M at Crossview Church in Grabill, Indiana. A funeral service will begin at the church at 2:00 P.M. Burial to take place in Leo Cemetery, Leo, Indiana. Officiating will be nephew, Terry Myers.
