Charles E. (Charlie) Terrell, Sr.

Charles E. (Charlie) Terrell, Sr., of Shoals, age 88, went to his heavenly home on February 4, 2026. Born April 12, 1937, in Martin County, he was the son of Charlie Terrell and Bertha Mae (Owens) Terrell. He was the 11th child of 12 and the last living member of his family. He married the love of his life, Wilma Taylor Terrell, on May 22, 1966, and she survives.

Charles was a United States Air Force Veteran. He served in Paris, France and Tulle, Greenland as well as other stateside bases. He was an avid bowler while health permitted and won several league tournaments and Indiana Senior Championships. He loved to watch things grow and farmed for several years. He was a graduate of Shoals High School with the class of 1955.

Charles retired from CAAA Crane, Indiana with 42 years of federal service. He was a NC machinist and later became a machined parts inspector. After retirement, he could be found at the local McDonald’s hanging out with friends and eating “Charlie burgers.” He loved children and was known to keep a pocket full of quarters to pass out to them. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Charles had a generous heart , always helping anyone in need.

Surviving to cherish his memory in addition to his wife are his children, son Charles E. Terrell, Jr. of Shoals, Indiana and daughter Jody (Terrell) Sellers and husband Scott of Columbus, Indiana and 2 granddaughters, Nicole Klee and fiancé Adam Dunn and Lyndsey Wolfe.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Helen Payne, Irene Gammon, Frances Sellers, Pauline Johnson, Dollie McCauley, Maxine Hopkins, Martha Blessinger, Eldean Gibbs, Lavonda Gutierrez; and brothers: Paul Terrell, Laverne Terrell, and Frank Terrell.

There will be a visitation on Monday, February 9, 2026 from 12:00 P.M. until 1:00 P.M. with a service immediately following at Dover Hill Christian Union Church, 15581 IN-450, Shoals, IN 47581. Burial will follow in Hickory Ridge Cemetery where there will be Military Gravesite Rights. Fond memories and online condolences may be shared at www.gillsince1872.com.
