Local firefighters were kept busy Wednesday night after responding to two separate fires just hours apart. The first call came in around 6:25 p.m. for a house fire in the 500 block of Ogden Street in Washington. Callers reported the two-story home was nearly fully engulfed, with heavy black smoke coming from the upper level.  According to dispatch logs, the homeowner reported the fire began while she was cooking supper. Officers blocked off nearby intersections as firefighters worked the scene for several hours. The Water Department was later called to shut off service to the residence. Despite heavy damage to the structure, no injuries were reported. Crews remained on scene until around 9 p.m., and the investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
