Christmas on Main Brings Full Day of Holiday Fun to Downtown Washington This Saturday

Downtown Washington will feature a full day of festive activities leading up to the annual Daviess County Christmas Parade and tree-lighting ceremony. Events begin at 9 a.m. Saturday with the Perdue Farms Community Breakfast at The Commons, followed by live holiday music from local singer Gauge Keiller at 10 a.m. Families can enjoy free showings of The Grinch at the Indiana Theater, horse-drawn carriage rides, cookie and ornament decorating, Livery Loft tours, and a large vendor village featuring local handmade goods. Kids’ attractions include letters to Santa, a giant inflatable Frosty Fun Maze, a snowball fight, and visits with both Santa and Mrs. Claus throughout the day. The YMCA will also host Swimming with Santa from 12:30 to 2 p.m. The WHS Madrigals perform at 1 p.m., and the Christmas Baking Contest will announce winners at 4:30 p.m. The Daviess County “American Christmas” Parade steps off at 5:30 p.m. on Main Street. The celebration concludes with the City Tree Lighting Ceremony from 7–7:30 p.m. at the gazebo, followed by a final meet-and-greet with Santa at The Commons. Christmas on Main is presented by Daviess Community Hospital.

 

The City of Washington has announced that parking will not be allowed on Main Street from Highway 57 east to N.E. 7th Street and from Highway 57 west to Meridian Street as well as on N.E. 7th Street from Main Street to Bedford Road during the hours of 3:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 6th. This is to allow for safety during the 2025 Christmas Parade. Violators will be towed at their own expense.
