Longtime Washington Times-Herald sports editor Todd Lancaster has been selected as the 2025-26 IHSAA Distinguished Media Service Award recipient for District 3. Lancaster will be honored Saturday night at the Hatchet House during the Washington vs. North Daviess boys basketball game. Lancaster has spent 25 years covering local sports for the Times-Herald, following earlier work at the Danville (Ill.) Commercial News. Over his career, he has reported on 14 boys basketball state finals, four girls basketball state finals, and multiple state championships across baseball, softball, golf, cross country, soccer, and tennis. He has also chronicled the careers of Mr. Basketball winners, Indiana All-Stars, and McDonald’s All-Americans from the region. A Navy veteran and award-winning journalist, Lancaster is known for his authenticity and commitment to telling the stories of student-athletes and their communities.
