A Dubois County man has been arrested on child solicitation-related charges after an investigation by the Huntingburg Police Department and the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Detectives opened the case on October 21 after receiving a Cyber Tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The tip, generated by Instagram, reported an adult communicating with a girl under age 16. Investigators identified 51-year-old Christopher E. Wilson of Dubois as the account user and uncovered additional evidence through search warrants and subpoenas. On December 1, officers executed search warrants in Jasper and Dubois with assistance from the Jasper Police Department, Dubois County Sheriff’s Office, Ferdinand Police Department, and the Dubois County Prosecutor’s Office. Multiple electronic devices were seized for forensic examination by the Knox County High Tech Crime Unit. Wilson was taken into custody and booked into the Dubois County Security Center on charges of Vicarious Sexual Gratification (Level 4 Felony) and Child Solicitation (Level 5 Felony). The ICAC Task Force reminds the public that online exploitation tips can be reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The Huntingburg Police Department noted that all charges are allegations and Wilson is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
