The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office will step up patrols beginning November 26 as part of Indiana’s annual Safe Family Travel campaign, aimed at reducing crashes and keeping roads safe through the holiday season. The effort, coordinated with the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute and supported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, will run through the end of December. Deputies will conduct sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols, and targeted enforcement of impaired driving, aggressive driving, and seat belt violations. State officials say the holiday period remains one of the most dangerous times on the road. Sheriff Gary Allison urged residents to plan ahead. “If you intend to drink, arrange a safe ride home before the night begins,” he said. Motorists are encouraged to report unsafe or impaired drivers by calling 911. Safety tips are available at nhtsa.gov/risky-driving.
