State Sen. Eric Bassler (R-Washington) announced Thursday that he is firmly against a proposed federal redistricting plan for Indiana. “I cannot support any mid-census redistricting plan,” Bassler said in a statement, adding that he stands by the legislative maps approved four years ago. Bassler noted that he and his Republican colleagues voted for the current state and federal maps and said he will not support any effort to change Indiana’s congressional districts before the next census.
