Residents gathered at the Blue Jeans Community Center in Monroe City Thursday for an open house on the proposed Blue Jeans Solar Project, a development planned by Arevon, a Scottsdale-based solar energy company. The project would cover 700 to 800 acres south of Monroe City, with construction expected to begin around 2027 and create up to 300 temporary jobs. Arevon officials said the company will own and operate the site once complete. Community members raised concerns about environmental impacts, which officials said were based on misinformation, noting that the panels are sealed and non-toxic. The site will be maintained with sheep grazing and pollinator-friendly vegetation, and the land will be restored for farming if decommissioned. Arevon plans to host additional public meetings and continue community outreach as the project progresses.
