The United States finally put up a fight in the 45th Ryder Cup on Sunday, but Europe captured golf’s biggest team prize again when it held off a furious charge from the Americans for a 15-13 victory at Bethpage Black.

The New York Mets lost 4-0 to the Miami Marlins in their season finale Sunday, completing a collapse from first place before the All-Star break to out of the playoffs.The loss by the Mets secured a playoff berth for the Cincinnati Reds, who will go into the postseason as the NL’s final wild-card team.

The Indiana Fever have more fight left in them, pushing the Las Vegas Aces to a decisive Game 5 after a 90-83 win in Game 4 of their semifinal series on Sunday afternoon at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
NCAAF
The Indiana Hoosiers are 5-0 and up to #8 in the new AP top 25. Indiana won a hard fought road game before a hostile environment in Iowa.  Fernando Mendoza threw for 233 yards and two touchdowns in the 20-15 win. Curt Cignetti’s Hoosiers are off this week before traveling to #2 Oregon on October 11th.
NFL
The Indianapolis Colts suffered their first loss of the season Sunday to the Los Angeles Rams in brutal fashion.
With the game tied at 20-20, they allowed an 88-yard touchdown pass from Matthew Stafford to Tutu Atwell with only 10 defenders on the field. Then Daniel Jones threw a deep interception on the ensuing Colts drive to ice the 27-20 Rams victory.
That all came on top of two Adonai Mitchell mistakes the negated 130 yards of would-be Colts touchdowns.
