A roadway hazard shut down part of U.S. Highway 50 near Maysville on Wednesday afternoon after a caller reported spilling carbon in the eastbound lane. Emergency crews responded just after 2:20 p.m. and closed the lane while Washington Township Volunteer Firefighters assisted with cleanup. Flashers were used to alert traffic during the incident. By 3:30 p.m., the spill had been washed away and the roadway was reopened. No injuries were reported.
