The Duke Energy Edwardsport IGCC Plant, in partnership with Knox County EMA and the Local Emergency Planning Committee, will conduct an annual CodeRED Alerting System test on Thursday, Sept. 18, between 1 and 1:30 p.m. The test will cover an 8.7-mile radius and may reach registered CodeRED users in both Knox and Daviess counties via phone call, text, email, or the app. Officials emphasize this is only a test and no action is required. CodeRED is a free mass notification system used to alert residents about severe weather, road closures, emergencies, and other public safety concerns. Residents can sign up at www.knoxcounty.in.gov/codered.
