Montgomery Green Space Project Nears Funding Goal

png-2

A gravel lot on Main Street in Montgomery is set to become a new community green space with seating, a water feature, and a colorful mural. The town’s crowdfunding campaign, launched in July, has raised over $49,000 of its $50,000 goal. If the goal is met by Sept. 8, the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority’s CreatINg Places program will match the funds, doubling the investment. Bloomington artist Adam Long has already begun work on the mural, which will feature local landmarks including Barr-Reeve’s Viking mascot, an Amish buggy, and St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Town officials hope the space will serve as a downtown gathering spot for schools, churches, and civic groups, with major progress expected by Thanksgiving.
