The September First Tuesday event at WestGate Academy will feature Dr. Aniket Bera of Purdue University’s IDEAS Lab, who will share how artificial intelligence is driving the next wave of robotics. The program runs Tuesday, September 2, from 4 to 6 p.m. Dr. Bera’s presentation will highlight how researchers are building robots that can think and move on their own, from four-legged “robotic dogs” that can handle tough terrain, to autonomous factory systems that work safely alongside people. His talk will also cover how robotics are being tested for defense, manufacturing, and public safety, with a focus on real-world use and workforce readiness. Guests will also get to see one of the lab’s robotic dogs in action, designed to inspect dangerous areas, map its surroundings, and even check doors and valves. The event is free and open to the public, offering a chance for business leaders, contractors, and community members to learn how AI and robotics are shaping the future.
