Our Community Foundation has awarded a $60,000 grant to the Merle Murphy Community Center in Alfordsville. The funding, provided through the TrueScripts Foundation Fund, will support the renovation of the former school gym into a space for sports, reunions, and community events. The project is a continuation of the late Merle Wagler’s vision to bring a community center to Alfordsville. His family is carrying out that mission after discovering he had already made a down payment on the building prior to his passing in December 2024. Foundation Executive Director Chris Jarrett said donor-advised funds like TrueScripts allow families and businesses to directly support causes they care about, while the foundation ensures funds are distributed responsibly. More information on the project can be found at merlemurphycenter.com.
