The Colts have a clear front-runner to be the team’s starting kicker in the season opener against the Dolphins.  For all intents and purposes, it’s Spencer Shrader’s job to lose.
Shrader, the Notre Dame product the Colts brought back this offseason after discovering him as an undrafted rookie a year ago, has been much more consistent than undrafted rookie Maddux Trujillo through the first three weeks of training camp.
Shrader has made 87% of his kicks so far; Trujillo has made 78%.
Packers QB Jordan Love is having surgery on his left thumb but is expected to be ready for the season opener. He attempted to play through the ligament injury in camp this week but has now decided to undergo the procedure.
