FEMA and the Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) began meeting this week with public assistance applicants after President Trump approved $15 million in emergency funding for 23 Indiana counties impacted by severe storms in early April. Martin, Greene, and Owen counties are among those eligible. The funds will help rebuild public infrastructure such as schools, firehouses, roads, and government buildings. Individual assistance for homeowners was denied, though IDHS is considering an appeal. Many residents suffered significant flood damage and are hoping for reimbursement. State disaster relief funds are currently being distributed to some affected homeowners.
