Severe storms swept through the region on Friday, with tornadoes striking Union County, Kentucky, and Greene County, causing significant damage. Reports from Union County indicate several structures were heavily damaged or nearly destroyed, with injuries also reported. Other areas, including Dubois County, regions near the Ohio River, and parts of western Kentucky, experienced strong winds and hail, leading to additional damage. Outside the Tri-State area, Bloomington and southern Saline County were also impacted by tornado activity. Meteorologists with the National Weather Service say multiple tornadoes likely touched down across southern-central Indiana during Friday’s storms, including a confirmed EF2 tornado in Monroe County. That tornado caused significant damage to buildings, trees, and vehicles—most notably destroying the Clear Creek Post Office. Surveys continue in Sullivan, Greene, Brown, and Bartholomew counties to assess the full extent of the damage. Wind gusts reached up to 75 mph in parts of the state, and around 41,000 customers lost power. A full report is expected soon.
