Three Structure Fires Keep Washington Firefighters Busy Overnight

fire-2-2

Washington firefighters responded to three structure fires on the city’s west side early this morning, keeping crews busy between midnight and 2 a.m. The first fire was reported shortly after midnight in the 1500 block of Vincennes Avenue. Responding firefighters found a detached garage and nearby house fully engulfed in flames. Off-duty city firefighters were called in to assist, and the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office was notified. Less than two hours later, firefighters were dispatched to another structure fire near Northwest 19th Street and Maxwell Avenue. Witnesses reported hearing a possible explosion before the fire was discovered. The State Fire Marshal’s Office was again contacted, and police investigated reports of a suspicious individual seen leaving the area. A third structure fire was also reported in the west end during the same time period. Authorities have not released any information on possible connections between the fires, and the incidents remain under investigation.
