Washington Mayor Dave Rhodes says work on the city’s water tower remains on schedule despite several water leaks that developed after the tower was taken offline for maintenance and repainting. During his monthly update, Rhodes said the project is expected to take about four weeks, with approximately three weeks remaining. He explained that the tower had to be drained so workers could safely complete sandblasting, painting, and other maintenance. When completed, the tower will feature new two-tone blue paint, updated lettering, lighting, and fencing. Rhodes also reminded residents that Apraw Road remains closed as part of a separate four-week improvement project. Drivers heading to the Washington Sports Complex this weekend are encouraged to follow posted detours. He added that several city meetings are scheduled throughout July, including Planning Commission, Park Board, Board of Zoning Appeals, and City Council meetings.
