Loogootee Mayor Brian Ader is asking the community to support a new fundraising effort aimed at improving the Loogootee Senior Citizens Center. In a video update released this week, Ader announced the city has received approval for a matching “Patronicity” crowdfunding grant that could provide up to $28,000 for upgrades to the facility. The program will match community donations dollar-for-dollar up to $14,000. Martin County Alliance Executive Director Jessica Potts said the project would fund improvements to the back portion of the senior center, including new flooring, replacement windows, ceiling tiles, and two ADA-accessible automatic doors. Officials say the building is used for a variety of community activities, including tax preparation services and senior programs, and the upgrades would help make the entire facility more usable year-round. The fundraising campaign will run for 60 days, with a deadline of July 12. Mayor Ader also pledged the first $100 donation toward the effort.
