Peggy Jean Smith age 88 of Vincennes went to her heavenly home on Saturday, April 4, 2026
Peggy was born on March 27, 1938 in Jasonville to Wayne and Laverne (Hayden) Cox.
Peggy and several hobbies that included collecting dolls, refurbishing old jewelry into a new look, and Christmas ornaments witch she would display on several Christmas trees. Peggy enjoyed performing as a professional clown for several years, watching the children smile and laughter brought her great joy.
Those left to mourn Peggy’s passing; two sons, Jason Clements of Washington and Tony (Deborah) Clements of Vincennes; two step sons, Bradley Smith of Lakeland, Florida and Douglas Smith of Florida; four foster sons, Zack (Allisha) Willis of Peterburg, Daniel Ragon of Colorado, Robert (Stacie) Nodine and Ronnie Eads of Floyd Knobs. One sister Rita (David) Matheny of O’Fallon, Illinois; two brothers, Roger Cox of Washington and Ronnie Cox of Kokomo; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation from 10:00 am to 1 pm on Thursday at Wabash Community Church.
A funeral service celebrating Peggy’s life will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday April 9, 2026 with Pastor Dale Biehl Officiating at Wabash Community Church located at 1033 North 10th Street in Vincennes. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
