Hatchet Robotics is celebrating a successful weekend after hosting a FIRST Robotics Competition event in Washington for the third consecutive year. Organizers say local teams helped prepare for the event and welcomed competitors from across the state. Team 8116, made up of upperclassmen, advanced to the semifinals as the third alliance captain and earned a third-place finish. The team also received the Creativity Award for its robot design, marking its second time earning the honor this season. Team 8430, an underclassmen group, was selected for alliance competition and performed well against more experienced teams. Both Hatchet Robotics teams have now qualified for the Indiana District Championship, which will be held at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis.
