Juvenile OWI Charges After Traffic Stop Near Cannelburg

A traffic stop near Cannelburg early Saturday morning led to the arrest of a juvenile driver on multiple alcohol-related charges. According to Indiana State Police, Trooper Dakota Hatton stopped a red 1996 Jeep for speeding on March 28. During the stop, Hatton made contact with both the driver and passenger, who were both under the age of 18. While speaking with them, the trooper observed signs of impairment. The passenger was cited for minor consumption and released to a family member. The driver was transported to the Washington Police Department for a chemical test before also being cited and released to a family member. The driver faces charges including Operating While Intoxicated, a Class A misdemeanor, along with Minor Consumption of Alcohol and Minor Possession of Alcohol, both Class C misdemeanors. Trooper Beau Brumett assisted at the scene.
