The Pike County Economic Development Corporation held a demolition day March 23 for a blighted property in Winslow as part of its Blight Elimination and Housing Program. The property, located at 913 North First Street, is the first in Winslow to undergo redevelopment through the initiative. The site is now being promoted to developers for future affordable housing. The program is supported by several community partners, and leaders say additional blighted properties across Pike County are currently being evaluated for cleanup and redevelopment.
Ashley Willis stated: “Our committee is evaluating other blight properties throughout Pike County. We have already cleaned up one blighted property in Petersburg and currently in discussions with housing developer. More details to follow.”
