State funding is coming to improve waterways in Daviess and Sullivan counties as part of a larger statewide effort. Governor Mike Braun and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources announced nearly $1.5 million in grants through the Lake and River Enhancement program to support lake and stream projects across Indiana. Locally, West Boggs Lake in Daviess County will receive $90,000 for sediment removal, while Sullivan Lake will receive $75,000 for a similar project. Officials say the work will help improve water quality, reduce debris, and enhance recreational access. In total, more than $1 million is being directed toward sediment and logjam removal projects statewide, with additional funding supporting efforts to control invasive aquatic plants. The program is funded through boat registration fees, with local partners contributing a portion of project costs.
