Two people were rescued from floodwaters in Pike County after attempting to drive through a flooded roadway. According to Indiana Conservation Officers, the incident was reported around 12:25 p.m. when dispatch received a call from individuals whose vehicle had become stranded, with water rising to the door handles. The occupants were able to climb onto the top of the truck in freezing conditions while awaiting help. A drone deployed by the Pike County Sheriff’s Department located the victims along River Road near Dodge City. Conservation officers then reached the vehicle by boat and safely transported both individuals to shore. They were treated and released at the scene. Officials are reminding the public to avoid driving through floodwaters and to follow the message: “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.”
