
Students from several local school programs recently earned honors in music, agriculture, and performing arts competitions. The Barr-Reeve Combined Middle School Band received a Gold rating at the ISSMA contest. Meanwhile, members of the Washington Hatchets FFA had a busy week preparing for the Indiana District X FFA Convention, hosting Indiana FFA Southern Region Vice President Calvin Myers for a chapter visit, and competing in multiple events. Students earned several awards, including third place in Creed Speaking for Ward Barber, third place in Talent for Mia Humphries, and second place in Ag Business Management for Owen Barber, along with several team recognitions and proficiency awards. In Indianapolis, the Washington High School Accents show choir also had a strong performance at a competition at Lawrence Central High School. The group advanced to finals for the first time in school history and finished third overall, marking their best performance of the season.
