The only item on Monday evening’s Washington City Council agenda was approving the financial claims presented by the Clerk Treasurer’s office. After the claims were approved, the council discussed noise complaints focused on a single area of the west side of Washington. The Council discussed the current noise ordinance and if changes need to be made in the current noise ordinance and methods of enforcement. Following the Council meeting, the Board of Public Works and Safety met. The Board approved a request by the Washington High School Robotics team to close N.E. Sixth Street between E. Walnut and Bedford Road for a statewide robotics competition. The Board approved closing Sixth Street from 4 pm to 10 pm on Thursday, April 2, and from 9 am to 10 pm on Friday and Saturday, April 3 and 4. The Board also received two quotes for painting the exterior of the water tower near WHS this summer. A third quote had been requested, but the company did not respond. The two quotes received were taken under consideration. In other business, the board approved a Master Service Agreement and a Notice to Proceed on a state-required water loss audit with the CHA Company (formerly Midwestern Engineers). Prior to the Council meeting, a large crowd watched as Mayor David Rhoads administered the oath of office to Connor Brown as the city’s newest firefighter.
