The Martin County Clerk’s Office is reminding residents about important deadlines for the May 5, 2026 Primary Election. Applications for absentee ballots by mail are now being accepted and must be submitted by April 23. Ballots will begin being mailed out on March 20. Because it is a primary election, voters must select either a Republican or Democratic ballot on their application and include either their driver’s license number or the last four digits of their Social Security number. In-person absentee voting will begin April 7 at the Martin County Courthouse in Shoals, running Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and ending at noon on May 4. The courthouse will also be open for early voting on Saturday, April 25 and Saturday, May 2 from 8 a.m. to noon. Residents are reminded to make sure they are registered to vote at their current address by April 7. Voter registration can be completed at the clerk’s office, the BMV, or online at IndianaVoters.com.
