The Loogootee City Council addressed several major issues during its meeting Monday night, including public safety upgrades, downtown improvements, and new housing development. Council members approved the purchase of a new Ford F-350 emergency response vehicle for the fire department to replace an aging 2002 two-wheel drive truck, and discussed downtown parking changes to support growing business activity. Officials also shared an update on the Oak Street Village project, a $15 million workforce housing development that will bring 50 housing units and a childcare facility to the city. Leaders say the project has already generated strong local interest and is expected to help address housing needs in the area. Pre-leasing is expected to begin in September.
