The Indiana Department of Transportation has launched Project Greenlight, a new safety initiative aimed at improving visibility for roadway workers. The program equips highway technicians and Hoosier Helpers with wearable Guardian Angel safety lights that flash bright green, increasing visibility in work zones, especially at night or during poor weather. Studies show the lights can make workers up to 89 percent more visible to drivers. INDOT began piloting the lights in late 2025 and plans to distribute approximately 375 devices statewide. Officials say the initiative is designed to enhance worker safety and encourage drivers to slow down and move over in work zones.
