indot-7

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has awarded $179.8 million in federal transportation funding to 50 rural cities, towns, and counties for road, bridge, and infrastructure improvements across the state. Nearly $129.1 million of the funding will go toward rehabilitating or replacing 49 local bridges currently rated in poor condition. Additional funds will support pavement projects, sidewalks and ADA ramps through the Transportation Alternative Program, trails, and traffic safety improvements. Several local communities in southwest Indiana are among the recipients:

Daviess County received $2,728,000 for a bridge project on CR E 975 N over North Fork Prairie Creek. The county also received $607,569.28 and $425,121.83 for safety improvements on CR 1200 E near West Boggs Lake.

Pike County was awarded $2,749,536 for a bridge project on CR 500 W over the Patoka River.

Dubois County received $2,835,000 for safety improvements at various locations throughout the county.

Martin County was awarded $90,000 for countywide safety projects.

Communities must provide at least a 20 percent local match and meet federal requirements to receive funding. INDOT dedicates about 25 percent of its federal highway funds each year to support local projects.
