Shoals High School will present its first-ever spring musical this April as the Drama Club stages “The Little Mermaid Jr.” Music director Alicia Bailey said the production marks a major milestone for the school’s growing drama program, now in its second year. While Shoals has hosted plays in the past, this will be the first full musical, featuring a cast of 29 students. Performances are scheduled for April 17 and 18 in the evening, with a Sunday matinee on April 19. Bailey said the program has grown steadily despite limited funding, no dedicated stage, and minimal resources. Licensing for the Disney production alone cost more than $2,000 for the junior version. Fundraising efforts are ongoing, and community donations are welcomed to help cover production costs, sets, and costumes. Community members are encouraged to attend and support the students as they bring the underwater classic to life this spring.
