Police Pursuit From Washington Ends in Petersburg Snowbank Crash

A police pursuit that began in Washington ended Saturday morning in Petersburg with the suspect in custody after a crash in a snowy parking lot. According to the Petersburg Police Department, Sgt. Collier joined the pursuit around 8:40 a.m. near Rolling Acres and followed the vehicle down Main Street in Petersburg at speeds exceeding 80 miles per hour. The suspect turned into the parking lot of Onyett’s Fabricators, circled the lot, and attempted to exit, striking Sgt. Collier’s patrol vehicle before sliding into a snowbank and becoming stuck. Officers from the Washington Police Department and the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office took the suspect into custody after a brief struggle. During the arrest, the suspect was reportedly seen swallowing a small baggie and was transported to the hospital by EMS. Police identified the suspect as 42-year-old Eric Logston of Washington. Authorities say the pursuit began when Washington officers attempted to serve a warrant and Logston fled after striking a police vehicle.
